Seymour Mace & Michael J Dolan
Coming to Hilarity Bites in Thornaby on June 7th 2012:
Seymour Mace
As recently seen on Dave's One Night Stand, Seymour Mace's surreal free form stand up takes the audience on a slightly off-beat flight of fancy, with his childlike and often childish explorations into relationships and naive investigations into why things are. Follow the hilarity into his charmed mind to see through his eyes... life, the universe and bears!
He was the winner of the Newcastle Comedy Festival Big Grin Award 2000, winner of the Cup-A-Soup Challenge 2001, finalist in Channel 4's So You Think You're Funny 2001 and semi-finalist in the BBC New Act Competition 2002. Seymour was City Life Comedian of the Year in 2003 and Best Breakthrough Act at the North West Comedy Awards in 2004.
Since then, he featured in the first five series of “Ideal” on BBC Three, and is now unable to walk down the street without being recognised by the nation’s stoners. Seymour's world is a unique one, but enter it and you'll leave all the better for the experience...
“Breathtaking... a surreal performance, he had the audience in the palm of his hand from start to finish” - Evening Chronicle
“Sharp, surreal set” - Leicester Mercury
“Gangling idiot savant” - Newcastle Evening Chronicle
Michael J Dolan
Michael J Dolan is arrogant, immature, heroically lazy and probably the smartest man alive. He is also paranoid, socially incapable and emotionally fragile and has achieved literally nothing in over a decade. He’s pretty sure that’s not his fault.
Continuing the long standing tradition of proper stand-up comedy (you know, done right), as perpetrated by Billy Connolly and Dave Allen, right the way through to modern proponents Dylan Moran, Sean Lock or Louis C.K., Michael J Dolan presents his own twisted philosophy of all things and promises an onslaught of hilarious negativity, because what use is unconditional love without a big healthy does of irrational hate to balance it out?
“Michael J Dolan is a very, very funny man” - The Skinnny
“cathartic for him but highly amusing for the rest of us” - City Life
“..there’s one thing Dolan has no right to be down about, and it’s this impressive calling-card of a show, firmly establishing himself as a welcome addition to the circuit and to the Fringe” - Chortle
MC Ray Bradshaw
Having made his comedy debut in September 2008, Ray has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting new acts on the comedy circuit. A two time Scottish Comedian of The Year finalist, Ray has travelled the lengths and breadths of the country telling jokes to anyone that will listen, making his name as an MC for various promoters.
A regular at Hilarity Bites, Ray was runner-up in their 2009 New Act Competition and has gone from strength to strength since then, and is in demand at some of the biggest comedy clubs in the UK as well as performing alongside big names such as Kevin Bridges and Frankie Boyle.
"a very promising writer, able to create some enjoyably twisted punchlines" - Chortle
"One to look out for" - The Skinny
"Funnier than a falcon!" - Frankie Boyle
