Phil Nichol & Gary Delaney
Coming to Hilarity Bites in Redcar on February 4th 2012:
Phil Nichol
Edinburgh Comedy Award winner 2006 Triple Chortle Award nominee for Best Headliner New Zealand Comedy Festival Best International Guest Winner 2003
Phil Nichol is a truly unique performer. An acclaimed actor, award winning comedian, producer, presenter, writer and musician there is no end to his talent.
Phil is an energetic and exciting performer with an unquenchable thirst to break boundaries and innovate with his work. His skill as an improviser whether it be musical, comedy or straight is unparalled. With a surreal edge to some of his mischievous rantings Nichol always brings something new to the stage, his keen sense of fun and eye for the shocking and absurd has cemented his position as one of the best comedians on the circuit today.
"seismically powerful award-winning comic force" - The Scotsman
"Nichol’s thermonuclear stage presence is so intense as to elude description. Give him any room and any crowd and he’ll win them over... He’s just outstandingly good at what he does" - The List
"Occasionally offensive, always foul-mouthed and above all funny" - Edinburgh Evening News
"The king of funny guys" - Daily Record
Gary Delaney
As recently seen on Dave's One Night Stand, Gary Delaney is a razor sharp one-liner comedian, who is widely regarded as being the most quotable comic on the circuit. The high quantity of stand out gags leaves the audience struggling to remember them all.
A regular at all of the biggest comedy clubs in the UK, Gary performed his first solo show at the Edinburgh Festival in 2010, despite his many years of experience on the circuit, to enormous critical acclaim.
Gary has written for Ivan Brackenbury's Hospital Radio Roadshow (nominated for the Perrier Award in 2007), Russell Howard’s Good News, Jason Manford's Comedy Rocks, and Radio 4’s The News Quiz, and also received two Sony Awards for his work for Kerrang! Radio.
“Taut, brilliant one-liners. Delaney was worth the price of admission alone” - Chortle
“Quickfire material of the very highest quality is pretty much guaranteed from the fast-thinking Delaney, a master of the deadpan one-liner” - The Guardian
“The man Jimmy Carr tries to be” - BBC
MC Andrew Ryan
Having made his debut in 2008, Andrew has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting talents on the comedy circuit, reaching the final of the Laughing Horse New Act of the Year competition in 2009 and scooping the Hilarity Bites New Act of the Year title in the same year.
The Irishman followed up his success by reaching the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year final in 2010, whilst performances at leading comedy festivals including Manchester, Leicester and Hull have further boosted his profile.
"Funnier than Ardal O'Hanlon" - City Life
"A slight bemusement at the world, and a vulnerable likeability that has the audience immediately on-side... impossible not to warm to him" - Chortle
"Made his set look easy, left us wanting more" - The Stage
